Reality need not be as grim as headlines
The headlines yesterday where terrible. You look at these and you might just get real depressed:
Economic growth slowed in 3rd quarter...worst in more than three years.

Last Ford Taurus rolls off assembly line...as 1,950 employees lost their jobs.

Chevron profit soars to a record $5 billion...prosperous times in oil industry.

While times may be bleak for others, they don't have to be for you...if you plan for the bleak times. I'm seeing some reports that the U.S. very well may be heading for a recession soon which might seem like a bad thing, right? So HOW do you get ready for it?
Now HERE'S the really bad news...DON'T SPEND all your money on the holidays this year. SAVE IT! I know that you have in mind some great gift ideas, but if you want to avoid some pain over the next six months, start saving. Besides, you can use the extra money to pay for those increased heating costs come winter time. Yep, you know those are coming to so don't let them surprise you!
Start saving today. If you can pad your checking account a little bit, then a momentary downturn or recession won't hit you so hard. Be ready for it!
