Debt-freedom: Keeping the dream alive

Let’s keep going with the theme from yesterday’s post and talk about keeping dreams alive. How many times have you started an ambitious goal only to grow weary of it and not finish what you started. Getting out of debt can be JUST like that.

It’s real easy to get motivated and get started but those who REALLY want it, don’t do it alone. You need support, someone who can encourage you, hold you accountable, and just generally help you keep focused even when the holidays come rolling around the corner.

Let’s be honest. In America today, Christmas has got to be one of the most difficult times to NOT put debt on a credit card. If you want to win this holiday season, tell someone what you are doing and that you do not want to use the credit card this year.

Just having someone nearby who is supportive and encouraging of your efforts will pay huge dividends in keeping your passion alive and not giving in.

In fact, while your at it, let your family (extended included) know what’s up. If your concerned that they’ll lay a guilt trip on you for not spending what you don’t have on them, let them know why. This can go a long way to keeping some peace and goodwill present come the family Christmas dinner.
