Finding great deals - not such a great deal
I've talked about the nutty shopping mayhem before, but this article over at MSNBC really caught my attention. Why? Check out this quote:
"...rather than mock these shopping warriors — whose intensity shimmers on the frozen tundra of Best Buy parking lots — it’s time they were celebrated the way athletes are."
These people are clawing and scratching their way to SPEND, SPEND, SPEND with unashamed abandon: I'm not sure there's much to celebrate here. OK, I'll loosen up, I know the article is being a little humorous and just spinning the story with some fun.
Listen though, if these people attacked their debt with the same intensity and ferociousness they exhibit on Black Friday to get that highly discounted iPod, it'd be amazing what they could achieve with their finances.
If you were one of them last week, just consider for a moment what you could do to improve your financial situation if you put that same amount of energy into eliminating your debt instead of increasing it.
Finding a great deal can be fun, but if you are that anxious to make retailers rich and not yourself, then maybe it's not such a great deal after all. Transfer that high-octane action towards your increasing your own wealth.
Now THAT'S a great deal!
