Road to wealth is NOT paved with holiday ads

If you get a newspaper delivered to your door, it's about to get REALLY big. You know what I'm talking about - that massive after-Thanksgiving shopping extravaganza, right? This weekend will see tons of ads.

WATCH OUT!

Here's a tip for debt free living: use extreme caution if you plan on shopping based on the ads you see. Why? Because you will see massive "saving" percentages, like, 75% off, 80% off, etc. that will seem irresistable. You'll say things like, "It's never been this low!" "This deal is too good to pass up!" "We'll never see prices like these again!"

Um, yes it has, no it isn't and yes you will.

Be very careful about the use of percentages. These are VERY easy to manipulate and often are not truely representative of how much the reduction really was. Look at the PRICE.

Just be patient, be smart and look at the ads with a critical eye. Sure there are some great deals that you might want to take advantage of. Just don't get hung up on percentages and you can save yourself a ton of grief AND money at the same time.
