Oh the lies we tell

The Wall Street Journal has an interesting article in which they ask the question, "How much of your retirement planning is based on wishful thinking?" Hmm. Good question.

Maybe you said things like, "I'll downsize my home when I retire," or "I can live on 70% of my income." Really? Will you and can you? Or are we just lying to ourselves so we'll feel better about the fact that our retirement nest egg is so small?

While the WSJ requires a subscription to read the article, Freakonomics Blog has got a post with a short summary that is eye opening to be sure.

Listen, if you find yourself saying the same things about your future retirement, how about this: why not get out of debt now and start building some wealth so that when you do retire, it doesn't matter! Heck, you can live on 100% of your current income AND keep the house!

Here's some articles to get you started today.
