Stuck in the "Don't want to do it but I know I need to" rut

You might have noticed I've got a theme going this week. OK, so I'm trying to get in the "holiday" spirit a little bit. I tend to be a scrooge most of the time - not with giving mind you - just in getting through the season. I mean, it's so much work!

Every year though, by the time the 25th rolls around, I always end up glad that I went through all the hoops to get there. I can't recall any Christmas where I regretted going through all the American holiday hoopla. In the end, it's always been worth it.

I guess for me, managing my finances is a lot like that as well. Budgeting and planning is no more fun than fighting traffic or making my way through a jam-packed mall to get that "needed" toy, but I do it anyway. Good thing too.

If you are stuck in the, "don't want to do it but I know I need to and I'll be glad I did" mode, it's time to just get it done. Keep reminding yourself over and over again just how glad you'll be when you actually do what you know you need to do and are finally debt free.

Better yet, set up a reward for yourself so when you really do reach the end of the tunnel, it's party time! Part of the joy of Christmas is the reward of the celebration AFTER the nightmare on mall street.

So decide on a reward that will motivate you. Then get motivated. Getting out of debt is definitely worth it. You won't regret it!
